That also doesn't look like a stock
regulator, as the OEM ones don't have a plug at the regulator. Maybe the
one in the picture was installed like that because it wouldn't fit flat
against the plate? In anycase whoever installed it like that helped kill
it, since without contact with the heat sink plate, it probably
overheated.
The regulator should be flat against the plate in
order to transfer as much heat as possible. There should also be a ground
wire from one of the mounting screws (the one nearest the wires)
connecting directly to the battery negative wire.
Check your
stator, because a badly grounded overheating R/R could have damaged your
stator. |
